My Mobile Store

by | Jun 7, 2022

Those of you who are already subscribed to my newsletter know what I’m about to say, but for everyone else, it’s is a heads-up. On June 5th, 2022, I started selling my books on the streets of New York city.

This is something I’ve been working on for months. Today, I can proudly say, I’m officially a street vendor. Yah. That means I made sure to get all my paperwork filed and in order with with city and state, blah, blah, blah, so I can try to increase my readership and fanbase.

If you’d like to swing by to say hello and/or perhaps even pick up a paperback, I’ve posted below the places and events where I will be over the next few weeks.

You’ll note it’s not an exhaustive list. This is mostly because I’m new to this and still learning the ropes and making contacts. By that I mean what are the best places to sell and what events I should try to get into. Now, before I get into that, if you’re not subscribed to my newsletter but you’d like to be, you can do so if you click here. If you subscribe you’ll gain access to all of this information about me, often before anyone else.

List of Venues/Events

I have not made a decision about where I’ll be stationed if I’m not doing an event yet. However, two places that are definitely on my radar is The Market At The Brooklyn Museum. I invite you to click the link below for more information.

Union Square

On some Sundays I plan to be at Union Square, located at the 14th Street subway line stop in Manhattan.

That location is perhaps best known for its Farmer’s Market. However, the farmers, for the most part, are not there on Sunday. A host of other vendors and craftspeople always are though. I mean even on the main days when the farmers are present. Those days are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

If you’d like to keep tabs on whether I’ll be there on a given Sunday, I suggest keeping in contact with me via social media. The platform I check the most is Twitter, so for the fastest possible reply to any questions you may have, do click here to follow me. For all of my other social media links, click here.

Juneteenth Father’s Day Celebration

Sistas’ Place in association with The Cooperative Culture Collective is holding a Juneteenth Father’s Day show on Sunday June 19, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. I’ll have a table there. If you have no plans for that day, I invite you to come on down.

The International African Arts Festival

This year’s 51st International African Arts Festival will be from Friday, July 1 through Monday, July 4th. This is a major, I mean a big time event, and yours truly will be there.

Here’s an excerpt from the promoter eventbrite.com’s website:

New York City’s longest-running celebration of worldwide African music, dance, and culture returns to Brooklyn!

Join us LIVE AND IN-PERSON at Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn from Friday, July 1 to Monday, July 4, 2022, rain or shine (10:00 am to 9:00 pm ET).

Thandiswa, the popular double platinum South African musician is headlining this year’s Festival, along with Trinidadian AfroSoca artist Olatunji; The Jazz of a Tribe Called Quest featuring Dashill Smith and Malcolm-Jamal Warner; R&B sensation Lyfe Jennings; and Oshun.

Other headliners are saxophonist Mike Phillips, the legendary Maimouna Keita African Dancers (MKAD), and Senegalese rapper ADH. Other performers include the groups Alura, Taifa Bartz, Nubian Messengers, PitsiRa, The Shaka Tonge Experience, and others.

My Short Story – The Burglar

Howdy: I have a new book coming out next month entitled The Burglar. It is a short story. One of a few I will publish over the next few months that represents a change in direction from all of my other writings to date. Namely, the fantasy subgenres, dark, grimdark, high, epic and dark...

YouTube Subscribers Wanted

Over the past couple of weeks I've been working on my YouTube channel . . . (What? What YouTube channel? You have a YouTube channel?) Yes, I do have one, but until recently, I hadn't posted anything there. So, like I said, of late I've been working on it again, and I'm happy to report I now have...

The Missing Afterword

When my latest book, The Underworld, The Fantasy Realms of Penn Fawn, was first released, and it was published in PDF and eBook format, it included an afterword. About two days later, at the suggestion of a friend, I republished it with the afterword removed. Why I did so was because the very...

The New Book Is Out

I'm delighted to report that the new book I was working on getting published is now available. I busted my butt over the last couple of weeks in a mad push to get it completed. Now, finally, it's here. To rehash what I stated in my previous blog post, for the most part, it's a picture book. By...

New Penn Fawn Book

A new book by Your's Truly will be out some time within the next two weeks. It will, for the most part, be a small picture book, which I should further define. By small is meant it will be the size and texture of a standard comic book. It will be printed from the same kind of paper and stapled...

Necropolis Update

For those of you who are already subscribed to my newsletter, plus you read yesterday’s post, this comes as somewhat old news. Or, an update, is perhaps the better way to describe it. In that newsletter, I mentioned I've been working on a glossary for my first book release, Necropolis. I’m proud...
